Guest Lecture by Mrs. Claudia Salviani “Designing spaces for people with disabilities”
23/04/24On Thursday 25th of April 2024 Mrs Claudia Salviani will give a public lecture at the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Forestry (groundfloor), beginning at 12:30 PM.
Ms Claudia Salviani is an expert dealing with people with disabilities for many years: working in a leading position in the Austrian NGO “Lebenshilfe”, her special focus in inclusion through space concepts. “Lebenshilfe Austria” is an association that advocates for the interests of people with disabilities and their equality in the political and social environment by compensating for disadvantages. The association, founded in 1967, supports around 11,000 people with disabilities in their living and working lives, often throughout their entire lives. A total of around 7,000 employees work in 500 Lebenshilfe locations in Austria. They are supported by 900 volunteers, over 500 community service members and around 200 interns. The main goal is inclusion of people with disabilities in the society.
Mrs Claudia Salviani is invited to hold a public lecture at the Faculty of Forestry, after which she will conduct a workshop for students of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture concerning redesigning public space in front of the Center for Accommodation and Daycare for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities in Julino brdo.
Guest expert is visiting as a contribution to the Belgrade Urban Oases, a project of EUNIC Serbia, Belgrade International Week of Architecture (BINA), University of Belgrade – Faculty of Architecture and Faculty of Forestry, Center for Youth Integration (CIM) and Center for Accommodation and Daycare for Children and Youth with Developmental Disabilities Čukarica. EUNIC – National Institutes for Culture of the European Union – is a network of national cultural institutes and organizations of Europe, with 39 members from all EU member states and associated countries. The Goethe-Institut, the Polish Institute, the Embassy of Sweden, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Italian Institute for Culture, the Embassy of Portugal, the French Institute, the Czech Center, Collegium Hungaricum, and the Embassy of Slovenia are participating in the Belgrade Urban Oases project.
During the Belgrade Urban Oases project students of Faculty of Forestry, Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture and Department of Wood Science and Technology, will design and transform two out of three locations in Belgrade, with the support from mentors and visiting experts. The three urban areas in focus are the surroundings of the Youth Integration Center on Zvezdara (CIM), the Center for Accommodation and Day Care for Children and Youth with Disabilities in Julino Brdo, as well as the location near the Arboretum of the Faculty of Forestry in Banovo Brdo.
